History of Footwear

Moccasin

A shoe made of one piece of material drawn up and around the foot. Served as a basic foot covering for people in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Today describes the popular shoe that retains the one-piece wraparound leather construction but may have added a separate hard sole. The word moccasin is the Algonkian word for footwear with a soft bottom.
